CASE STUDY

Cabaïana hotel.

Requirement

Cabaïana is a new themed 4-star hotel, forming part of the 40-hectare Nigloland theme park in France’s Champagne region. Cabaïana adjoins the existing Hôtel des Pirates, and the two hotels share several hospitality areas.

With the expansion of the hotel complex, the audio matrix no longer had capacity to manage sufficient zones, while the amplifiers were older low-impedance models requiring external 100V transformers. The decision was therefore taken to install a completely new, upgraded audio system spanning both hotels.

Audio, video, and lighting specialist Mega Hertz was commissioned to design and install the new audio system. Mega Hertz has been an AV partner of Nigloland since the park’s inception in 1987 and director Damien Dieusy and his team have gained an intimate understanding of the park’s requirements.

Among the key priorities for this project were the need for excellent audio coverage with minimal visual impact, plus minimal amplifier footprint, and the possibility to monitor system performance.

Solution

Mega Hertz achieved even audio coverage across the hotels’ hospitality zones through careful selection and placement of discreet, compact loudspeakers. Indoor areas are served by 34 Fohhn Linea LXP-10 4” coaxial cabinets, plus three Linea LXP-60 4 × 4″ line-source speakers. Nineteen weather-resistant JBL Control 85M speakers and a pair of JBL GSB12 in-ground landscape subwoofers are sited across the outdoor spaces. The loudspeakers were supplied in white and custom painted by Nigloland’s décor team to blend seamlessly into their surroundings.

All speakers are powered by a rack of eight APEX CloudPower CP354 amplifiers. Each amplifier delivers 4 x 350W and occupies a single rack unit. The Mega Hertz team was already very familiar with CloudPower, having installed the products elsewhere across the Nigloland park and in other projects. The IntelliCloud WebUI allows the status of all amplifiers to be monitored over the local area network during maintenance.

A pair of BSS Soundweb London BLU-100 12×8 signal processors route audio to the various dining areas, bar, reception, terraces and other zones. The primary audio source is a media player, with six additional input points on the matrix allowing temporary connections in different parts of the hotel. Hotel staff can control the system via a simplified custom web interface, created by Mega Hertz.

Audio hardware for this project was sourced from French distributor, CSI audiovisuel. Cabaïana opened its doors in April 2025 and its new audio system has successfully and reliably enhanced guests’ experiences during its first season.

“We have been pleased with the audio quality and reliability of the CloudPower amplifiers over several installation projects. Setup is fast and intuitive and the ability to monitor the system over the network is an important bonus.”
