ASTA ARENA speedway stadium
Requirement
ASTA ARENA motorcycle speedway stadium in Piła, Poland has undergone phased modernization over several years. Starting in 2021, the stadium has been upgraded with reconstructed stands to accommodate 4,029 people, updating of the speedway track, new lighting, and adaptations to meet the needs of people with disabilities.
One of the final elements of ASTA ARENA’s renewal was the installation of a modern audio system to enhance the speedway experience for fans as well as conveying essential safety information for participants. As an outdoor venue, the arena required an audio system that could provide excellent coverage in all weather conditions. The inherently high levels of background noise generated by the speedway bikes also dictated the need for an audio system capable of delivering high SPL and excellent speech intelligibility for commentary and safety announcements.
Solution
The contract for designing, supplying, installing, and commissioning ASTA ARENA’s new audio system was awarded to Tommex, a leading audio equipment provider with an extensive track record of successful stadium projects across Poland.
Tommex selected 45 RCF P6215 full-range 15” coaxial loudspeakers for the arena’s PA system. The P6215 is a weatherproof design, specially created for harsh acoustic environments such as open-air stadiums and racetracks.
Loudspeakers in all zones are driven by six APEX CloudPower CP3004D Class D amplifiers, each supplying 4 x 3000W. The CP3004D features full DSP and can be controlled remotely via the IntelliCloud web interface. Despite their high power, each CP3004D occupies a single rack space. An Ashly ne8800d digital audio processor acts as the central matrix for the system, distributing networked audio to the CloudPower amplifiers over Dante.
A new live commentary system completes the installation, equipped with a Yamaha TF1 mixer and digital interfaces, plus Sennheiser wireless microphones.
The fully updated stadium was inaugurated on April 27, 2025 when the home Pronergy Polonia Piła speedway team competed against Trans MF Landshut Devils. ASTA ARENA now benefits from state-of-the-art sporting facilities, supported by an advanced audio system, significantly increasing the comfort of fans and readying the stadium to host the highest level of events.
